Apple was taken to court because people said its AirTag devices help stalkers track victims.
A judge in San Francisco decided that three people in the case had good reasons to sue Apple for being careless and making a bad product, but the rest of the case got thrown out.
Lots of women and men sued Apple because they said Apple knew its AirTags could be used for bad things but still sold them. They think Apple should be responsible when people misuse the tracking devices.
The people who are still suing Apple say that when they were stalked, the AirTags didn’t keep them safe, and that’s why they got hurt.
Apple hasn’t said anything yet about the judge’s decision.
The case accuses Apple of releasing AirTags even though people warned them it could be used for spying.
People in the case said AirTags, which are cheap, have become a popular tool for stalkers and abusers.
Although Apple made a feature to alert people if someone is tracking them with an AirTag, the lawsuit claims it’s not enough to keep people safe.
Another company, Tile Inc., is also facing similar accusations about its tracking devices not protecting against stalking.
